History and architecture

The station honours the poet and writer Gʻafur Gʻulom; during design it was called Khadra. It opened in 1989 to a design by architects A. Tabibov and F. Muzaffarova. Faceted columns thicken towards the top, and lamps hidden in the ceiling domes give soft, diffused light. The walls carry ceramic compositions by the ceramist Saparniyaz Sultanmuratov.

Named after the poet Gʻafur Gʻulom. Its project name was "Khadra".
