History and architecture
The deepest station in the Tashkent Metro, at about 24 m; high groundwater meant 19 drainage wells had to be drilled during construction. Oriental-style columns whose capitals double as lamps hold up a hall over 7 m high, and a broad staircase rises from the middle of the platform. Two passages lead to Amir Temur Xiyoboni. It honours composer Yunus Rajabiy, who collected maqom music and wrote it down in notation.
