Hamid Olimjon metro station

History and architecture

Opened in 1980, the station honours the poet Hamid Olimjon; his portrait in high relief by Ilkhom Jabbarov is in the entrance hall. The vault is divided by bands of ornamental ceramics in the national style, and nine lamp columns of white marble and smalt designed by Irena Lipene stand on the platform. The glass was made at the Neman works in Belarus and flown to Tashkent on a special flight.

Named after the poet Hamid Olimjon. Planned name: 'Moskovskaya'.
