History and architecture
The station was conceived as an underground geology museum: the vestibule holds a mosaic geological map of Uzbekistan made of semi-precious stones, and the walls are faced with pale travertine from Chust district in Namangan region. Until 2015 it bore the name of geologist Habib Abdullayev, president of the republic's Academy of Sciences. Unusually for Tashkent, it has side platforms. Architect: Alla Adylova.
“Shahriston” was the walled part of a medieval Central Asian city. Until 2015 it was called Habib Abdullayev.
